The Planet X Pro Carbon Ultegra…my new bike. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quick bike under a grand.

Received these in the post with my latest copy of Rouleur. Pretty stoked to say the least. Cheers for a great issue guys!
Cycling is a sport, a simple thing. It is something we do for pleasure. But Cycling is also a simplification of reality, where we can test our perseverance and learn to fight the greatest adversary we can encounter: ourselves. A Cyclist learns to push through pain to achieve a goal. These lessons are then applied to our lives to allow us to become better people.
The real kick in the teeth for me in this saga happened the other week. I’d forgotten one of my login passwords for a uni site, and the authentication question was ‘Who is your favourite sportsperson/idol?’ I grudgingly typed out Lance Armstrong, weeping as I did so.
It’s such a shame, I remember the first time I read ‘it’s not about the bike’ when I was a fresh faced, naive teen, I was so inspired by his story. Coming from a poor background, possessing such talent, fighting cancer then winning 7 straight tours…it was so amazing and supported my underdog mentality so much that my belief in him never wavered.
At least until the USADA report came out, then I just didn’t think about it. I shut it out. Now I feel nothing about Lance. It’s a strange feeling, to lose an inspiration like Lance and then be empty. To have everything that had kept you going fail you.
I guess I’ll be changing that answer sometime soon…
